It’s still January so I think it is okay for me to wish everyone a Happy New Year! And, as I was getting ready to beat myself up for being late with this post (because I do feel behind this year already and had planned to write it several weeks ago), I realized I’m actually early for Chinese New Year! So, before I get into the topic of my post, a BIG Happy year of the Rooster to everyone… and a few facts I found interesting.
It says that those who are born under this Zodiac sign are confident, courageous and active individuals who are loyal, proud and trustworthy! The year 2017 is placed under the protection of the fabulous and flamboyant sign of the Fire Rooster. They say it is best to wear jewelry and clothes respecting the composition and color of the Element they are supposed to represent and in 2017, it is highly recommended to favor terracotta objects or jewelry whose colors are related to the Earth element, such as yellow or brown. Finally, remember through the course 2017 to avoid using red as a garment or precious stone.
Now onto the real subject of my post. Here’s a fun alternative to New Year’s resolutions. Write down memorable events or positive things that happen throughout the year on a piece of paper and place them in a jar – everyone in the family does this. Then, at the end of the year, read all the memories together as a family. It is such an easy idea that brought our family together. This simple idea helped us to remember to be grateful for the memories, events, and time we shared together! Added bonus, it’s a great conversation piece in your house when you have people over. This year, rather than a New Year’s resolution (that may not last), my goal is to be more conscious and grateful for all the little things that fill my jar.
With that, I wish everyone a jarful of fun, laughter, happiness and love in 2017! And a reminder that the smallest actions can have the biggest impact… so let’s fill not only our jars, but also contribute to filling the jars of those around us.
